In his fifth year of presenting "Screw Done Alreadly Warned Me', an ongoing project celebrating the life and influence of Robert Earl David Jr., Francisco Santillan a.k.a. Denuhmug travels to Galveston Island to collaborate with Picnic Curatorial Projects.
The project kicks off June 27th with an exhibiton at Picnic Surf Shapes with artists and archivists Jugghaus Archives, Andrea Guerra, Alex Luján, Colt Matheson and Brandon Thompson. Saturday, June 29th, join us at Galveston Artist Residency for a talk by Lance Scott Walker, author of DJ Screw: A Life in Slow Revolution and Houston Rap Tapes. Moderated by Francisco Santillan (Denuhmug) and Greg Ruppe (Picnic Surf Shapes). The project closes Sunday night, June 30th at Daquiri Time Out, with performances by original S.U.C. members Yung Star, Big Demo and Woody Wood! Performing the legendary 'June 27 Freestyle' together live for the first time ever, on the island where Screw's tape was first released back in 1997!
